The lobster tail was delicious. The ambiance is rustic. A good choice for a romantic dinner. Service was excellent. Nice assortment of beer on tap.

Appetizers and meal were amazing and deserts were even better. Only thing that topped it all was that I was here with my beautiful wife

This might have been an off night since there was a huge party of 30+ on the 2nd floor. We were just a little disappointed with our food. Our steaks were warm/cold and baked potato was hard and cold. Asked for more butter for our potatoes & rolls and was told the potatoes already had butter on them and there's 2 different butters with the rolls. (many in our group are not fond of the cinnamon butter, especially the children) The duck soup was outstanding! Service was excellent as always. We definitely will come back!

The food here is always amazing, the waitstaff are experienced and friendly/helpful. Just last night I had the pan seared scallops 😊 All I can say is WOW! They even offer mashed cauliflower as a potato choice!!!

This restaurant/bar is a true jem and would get 5 stars, but I believe that there is always room for improvement. Not sure where the chief got his training, but the should surely advertise his success. The wait staff was friendly, funny and on top of it. The food was spectacular. Just when I didn't think it could get any better, they brought out the dessert try. Words just simply can't explain. It is a must see for yourself type of thing. I would drive out of my way to stop in again, just to have dessert.

Nice service and great food. We're definitely intrigued by the menu and expect to come back many times to try different dishes.Beer cheese soup was very disappointing but the pretzels were a nice touch.

Always great food, friendly and efficient service. Make a reservation on Saturday night or plan to wait! Weeknights can be busy as well. Worth the drive from Milwaukee!

Great service, cozy inviting decor , however Walleye tasted fishy and it really shouldn’t , also $28 prime rib was chewy and tough. Prices are very expensive for food quality .

I drove 35 min to get there and waited almost 3 hours to get seated. Finally ordered food and my food wasn't hot but the waitress never came back to check on us. I.paid $18 for awful service and worse food..will never go back

The Jail House is pretty unassuming from the outside, and it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, which adds a lot to it's charm. It's a cozy place that treats their patrons with kindness and respect, you feel like a regular even if you aren't (but you'll want to be). The prices are reasonable, the food plentiful, and the drinks stiff. Thursdays and Saturdays are prime rib nights, and it's the best prime rib I've had, I really look forward to it. The few times I've not been there on Thurs/Sat the food is still very very good. My wife tells everyone about the cream of duck soup, and the dessert tray should be on those Food Network TV shows, they are all preposterously good (especially the peanut butter or pistachio torte). Will definitely frequent this place for years to come.

Good cocktails but the charm kinda ends there. There are far better places to get steak. And every side we had was either mediocre or poor. Went with eight people and they all felt the same.

A great fish fry, but if your going to dine here on Friday get there early.

Excellent food. Prime was a little tough but flavor was great. Tenderloin was fantastic done perfectly. Waitress was not very personable. In a rush, seemed annoyed if we asked questions or asked to repeat things.

A real gem with fantastic food and service. Warm and friendly supper club style with great fish fry, steaks, prime rib and old fashioned. FYI... the mushrooms are off the charts good! I always order extra and bring home.

Service is always good. I am questionable about the French onion soup with a square piece of cheese thrown on top of it - and served that way to us.. The salmon was good, with the corn and bean relish, amazing flavor there. Make a reservation, even with one, we waited about 15 to 20 minutes.

Great night out, fabulous food and excellent wait staff. Even with a large group we had great service, all the orders were spot on and love being served hot food!! Superb fish fry!!

Had the New York strip, was cooked well but super fatty and over priced for the quality. Our waitress was okay and we only had to wait 2 hours for a table. Definitely a one time visit. Dont waste your time. Much better food for the same price in downtown madison.

This restaurant has a special place in my heart. I made great friends there, plenty of fun and memories. In my opinion the menu is well rounded, well prepared and very affordable. We met with some very dear friends for a night out and they did not disappoint is in any way, so it is well worth making reservations on weekends and with the trip to Washington County.

Although we had reservations, still had to wait over 30mins. Steaks were great, but lobster was a big let down. Came out semi warm & wasn't cooked properly. Was chewy & almost jellyfish in spots.

What a great place to celebrate our 27th anniversary! It was crowded, but that just tells you that people want to be here. So glad we called ahead for a reservation! I had the mahi mahi with Asian slaw... mmmm! And the duck soup was marvelous. Our server Jess was wonderful. Turns out I had just met her a couple weeks ago in a totally different setting. It was well worth the 45 minute drive from our house to get here.

Food was fair. Mahi mahi and shrimp were tough, scallops a bit rubbery. Shrimp were also pretty small. Best review from our table of 10 was the garlic tenderloin special. Maybe avoid the seafood and stick to the beef. They were out of a few desserts before 7. Service was fine.What really drops the rating, and prompted me to review, was that we were asked to leave so they could turn the table over. Seriously? It is not our fault that a restaurant can't properly estimate how long a table will stay. We hadn't been lingering - we had just finished desserts. I had just gotten up to use the bathroom - walked out to find our table empty, my hot coffee being cleared. There's no room at the bar, so while we would have loved to have some after dinner drinks were unable to.Wouldn't recommend, nothing special.

Twisted French dip and cauliflower mashed potatoes were delicious. Loved the black cherry old fashion too!

Rustic atmosphere delicious food

This was our first time. Food was excellent. Our group had a variety of things from chicken, fish, ribs, salads, soups and appetizers. Desserts were big and delicious. Our server Ashley was wonderful. Good prices for all that you get. Live out of state but would definitely come back.

If I could give this place a negative rating I would. I had ordered the sirloin steak and it was grizzly and tough and not cooked to what I had asked. I asked the waitress if I could have a substitute of something else to replace it she said there was nothing wrong with it I asked for manager and she said nothing wrong with it. She went to the cook who is not a chef and he said it was ok I did not ask for their opinion they must not of heard the golden rule when your in business that the customer is always right if you want to stay in business I should of walked out will not be back poor service and they need a new cook

Worst Steak I have ever had. It was chard, tough, and bland. When I told the waitress she acted like it was normal and asked if I wanted a box to take it home. My husbands steak was the same.

Amazing cheese curds and water chestnuts!

Rustic hideaway, but worth finding. Wide menu of steaks & seafood with a special touch. Home cooking and comfort food with "special occasion" quality. Especially enjoyed a cream of duck soup starter. One of evening specials was beef tenderloin medlions with a "Jack Daniels" mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes was very good. Others around us were having lobster and prime rib, which looked fabulous. They also have home baked desserts to finish the evening. Rural location, a nice country drive 20 minutes out of Mequon.

Very interesting restaurant that seemed in the middle of nowhere. This restaurant had a very home like feeling to it and the food was awesome. The Grilled Jerk Mahi-Mahi was perfect with a mango salsa on top that was very flavorful. They also have an interesting drink menu that I enjoyed. We also had the bacon wrapped water chestnuts as an appetizer and they were fantastic. Depending on what you order can be on the pricey side but well worth every penny.

Prime Rib 2nite. Husband and Aunt enjoyed. I had lobster very dissappointed. Rubbery and mealy. Usually this place is great. Service by Donna spot on!

Most amazing meal, tonight was the lobster special, several had that I had the filet, it was so good. Great service besides. Helped celebrate a birthday with a cake and most impressive candle.

Their lobster mac and cheese is AMAZING. And cant go wrong with any of their home made desserts :)

Great food (especially steaks) and supper club atmosphere.

First time there. Atmosphere is comfy cozy almost like old barn feeling. People and service great. My husband had the cowboy steak, garlic mashed potatoes, soup and salad. He said it was very good. I had steak and scallops, garlic mashed potatoes and soup. Scallops were fantastic, steak was under cooked to my liking. They were happy to take it back to the kitchen and cook it to my satisfaction. YUMM! Dessert was on the house.

Super good! Steaks are perfect. This will become a regular place for us.

This is our go to place. Great food, and excellent service.

It's my favorite restaurant in Wisconsin. The food is excellent and the bar makes the absolute best bloody Mary's. The atmosphere is rustic and yet very romantic. Serves escargot, Steak, Lobster, Alaskan King Crab etc. and delicious desserts and an assortment of cheesecakes all homemade. A fine restaurant.

Pricey but great food.

Food was ok. A little over priced. Paid $4 extra to have my steak with blackend seasoning. Overall not bad but I won't return.

Worst fish I ever had and the most expensive for fish that tasted like deep fryer oil. Very disappointed. Service was good though
